The Furnus mod by developer MrRiegel is a relatively new but extremely useful mod that, in short, adds a furnace and grinder into the game and, if that’s not enough for you, it also adds a whole bunch of upgrades for said furnace/grinder as well so you can keep upgrading them however you prefer. The mod was released on the very first day of January and has already accumulated over 12,000 downloads which is a testament to how useful it is. It does have a few hiccups here and there, but overall it’s pretty solid and will definitely enhance your Minecraft experience if you try it out.
Expanding a bit on the upgrades, the ones implemented by the Furnus mod are highly useful. Some are straight up beneficial upgrades like the efficiency upgrade that decreases fuel consumptions, but there are also some double-edged swords in the mix as well like the speed upgrade that increases speed but alongside that increases fuel consumption by a significant amount as well. There are various kinds of other upgrades as well, so this mod will definitely keep you quite busy as you tinker around with all the stuff that it has to offer.
One thing you need to keep in mind about the Furnus mod is that both the furnace and the grinder need to be powered by using either the External Heater or the Exoflame, which are located in the Immersive Engineering and Botania mods respectively. As mentioned before, the mod does have a few minor hiccups which are mostly in the technical department. Some users have reported issues with upgrade recipes not appearing and various other similar things but fortunately, these problems are pretty uncommon, and there is a workaround for them as well through the config/furnace_recipes.json file which can edit and even add new recipes.
